What Is Average Daily Theoretical (ADT)? How It Sets Your Casino Trip Price

If you've ever wondered how casinos decide who gets a free room, a discounted suite, or a comped charter flight, the answer comes down to one number: your Average Daily Theoretical, or ADT. Understanding it is the single biggest thing you can do to travel better — and cheaper — as a casino player.

What is "theoretical"?

Your theoretical (often shortened to "theo") is the amount the casino expects to win from you over time, based on how you play — not what you actually win or lose on a given trip. It's calculated roughly like this:

Average bet × decisions per hour × hours played × house edge = theoretical loss

So a player betting $100 a hand for 4 hours a day is worth far more to the casino — on paper — than someone betting $10, even if the $10 player happens to lose more on a bad night. The casino rewards your expected value, not your luck.

What makes it "Average Daily"?

Average Daily Theoretical takes your total theoretical for a trip and divides it across the number of days. This matters a lot for trips: if you play hard for one day but coast the rest, your ADT — and the offers it unlocks — drops. Casinos and hosts look at ADT to decide what level of trip, comp, or charter you qualify for.

Why ADT decides what your trip costs

Comped travel isn't random. Your ADT determines:

  • Whether your room is free, discounted, or rack rate
  • Whether you qualify for a charter flight or a fly-in offer
  • The resort credit, dining, and show comps you receive
  • How far in advance the best offers reach you

Two players can take the exact same trip and pay wildly different prices — entirely because of their ADT.

How to estimate your ADT

You don't need to guess. Use our free ADT calculator to estimate your theoretical from your typical bet size, game, and time played. Knowing your number tells you which offers are realistic — and where you have room to grow.

How to improve your ADT (without betting more than you're comfortable with)

  • Always use your players card. Unrated play is invisible — it builds you nothing.
  • Consistency beats one big day. Steady, rated play across your trip raises your daily average.
  • Play the games that count. Time on rated games at your comfortable stakes is what the casino measures.

Where an independent casino host comes in

Once you know your ADT, the next step is turning it into the best trips for your play. That's what we do. As an independent casino host, Grueninger Gold matches your play to comped charter and casino trips — from your closest departure city to top destinations — and handles every detail, at no extra cost to you.

ADT FAQ

Does theoretical mean I have to lose money? No. Theoretical is your expected value to the casino over time. You can win on a trip and still build strong theo — it's based on how you play, not the outcome.

How do I find my exact ADT? The casino calculates it from your rated play. Our calculator gives you a close estimate so you know where you stand.

Can a host get me a better rate than booking direct? You pay the same price either way — but a host books the same trips with personal service and makes sure you're getting offers that match your play.
